I am Catholic, apostolic, Roman.
For a long time I have practiced the religion.
My Church demands faith and commitment,
Being faithful to all this has always been my intention.

But, like me, many people forget
From time to time their obligation.
One just wants to pray, the other just wants to work,
As if they could separate service from prayer.

As long as there is division or opposing part
Community life will be this dispute.

The church has to be swept, but no one wants to.
The wall has to be painted, but no one wants to.
The bell has to be rung, but no one wants to.
Everyone wants to enter paradise.
The knee has to be bent, but no one wants to.
A novena has to be done, but no one wants to.
Fasting and abstinence, but no one wants to.
Everyone wants to enter paradise.

Faith without works, as Saint James used to say,
Is a dead faith, almost worthless.
So, amidst defects and virtues,
I ask the Father to help us experience love.

But, like me,...

Helping others is necessary, but no one wants to.
Paying tithes is necessary, but no one wants to.
And fighting for justice is necessary, but no one wants to.
Everyone wants to enter paradise.
The rosary has to be prayed, but no one wants to.
And the Bible has to be read, but no one wants to.
Being in the vigil is necessary, but no one wants to.
Everyone wants to enter paradise.
