Lamenting by the rivers
Of the city of Babylon.
Sitting and crying by the rivers

We hung our instruments
On the willows of the city of Babylon.

How can I sing the Lord's song
So far in Babylon?
But how can I sing the Lord's song
In a foreign land?

Tell me how can I sing,
If I am so sad, here captive in Babylon.

Be attached here in Babylon

Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
In Babylon,

If I forget you, Jerusalem,
