Gente da Minha Terra

Belmonte e Amaraí Belmonte e Amaraí

People from My Land

I paid so much homage to the interior
And to the worker with a gentle soul
The verses I wrote were recorded by my colleagues
And they spread throughout Brazil
And the longing for my land
It became an anthem in the voice of my people
For whoever left his beloved land
Although achieving successes in life
There is no one who doesn't want to see her again

Who forgets the countryside, the waterfall
The lake, the forest, hook fishing
Cattle grazing the grass on the shortcut
Wet with dew, shining in the sun
And the kindness of those people
That gives everyone the same warmth
I like city life too
And I know that happiness exists
But she must be a country girl

At country dances I always sang
Someone who loved me cried for me
Then I danced in the big yard
Smelling the jasmine flower
And to this day I still feel it
That scent hanging in the air
It makes me relive my happy youth
It's the scent of sweet longing
That nothing in the world can erase

Our lives are almost a mystery
The struggle of the mind is almost in vain
That in which today one sees oneself shipwrecked
Maybe it will be nothing in our tomorrow
And the longing for my land
That is in my soul and in my whole being
On the stage of life I go working
But when you feel the curtain closing
It's in my land that I want to die
