Governador do Egito
Benedito Felizardo
Governor of Egypt
When the sun shone hot, penetrating into the infinite
Passing by the Ishmaelites, a cry is heard from a pit.
It was Joseph who was shouting, his brothers did this.
Potiphar bought the boy, upon arriving in Egypt.
But time passed and the boy grew up
Gaining trust, he became governor.
Gathering provisions, he placed them in storehouses.
Seven years of fat cows and seven more of dread.
After some years in unforeseen lands
That had to buy food in Egypt
And Jacob sent his sons to buy, with great faith
Unaware that the governor was his son, Joseph.
And Joseph, seeing the young men, recognized them immediately
And after harsh tests, he said: Do you know who I am?
I am the boy you sold yourselves.
They fell to the ground as soon as they recognized him.
Joseph said to them: I cried with longing,
But fear not, my brothers, for I have forgiven you.
Everything you did to me was a favor.
Today here in Egypt, I am the governor.
