Rosita's Tragedy
On the river banks, Rosita was washing clothes
Neither work nor boredom withered her face
Of all the village, she was the most beautiful
The peasants sang when they saw her coming
And they fought for her love, willing to die for her
They all adored that April rose
Time passed as roses bloomed
But on that tragic day, things changed a lot
Tragedy is the companion of beautiful women
That day dawned cloudy in the sky
Rosita went down to the river carrying her load
A man approached her with evil intentions
My soul Rosita, that rancher said to her
How I've been waiting for this day to tell you I love you
Now you have to be mine or I'll die trying
Underneath that oak tree that grew in that place
That sinister peasant mocked Rosita
Then he threw her into the whirlpool and the river took her away
