Corrido de Emilio Mireles
Beto Quintanilla
Ballad of Emilio Mireles
I’m Emilio Mireles
Born in Tamaulipas
I’ve been locked up three times
And I got out all three times
Once I got out clean
The other two, what can I say?
First, I was in my hometown
Where I got out clean
It didn’t make sense to run
From my beloved border
It’s tough to be on the run
When you’re far from your land.
Now I live in Texas
Since eighty-nine
I’ve got friends in prison
And more than nine on the street
And others still think
That Emilio’s still on the move.
Federal agents
Chased me to the death
Cantú, Silva, and Galván
Surrounded me with their crew
They shot up my truck
But I crossed the bridge on 'em.
I slipped away from the feds
In the middle of a shootout
Over by the old bridge
Of my beloved border
God protected me in jail
And also in the shootouts.
I’ve been locked up several times
But I got out every time
Clean or dirty
But I’m still here
Falling down and getting back up
My life’s always been like this.
Now I live in Texas
Since eighty-nine
I’ve got friends in prison
And more than nine on the street
And others still think
That Emilio’s still on the move.
