Flor de Guavira
Biá e Dino Franco
Guavira Flower
I always remember the guavira flower
That a Paraguayan girl once gave to me
Today my soul sighs with longing
Because the Paraguayan has forgotten me
No other flower now captivates me
The guavira flower, so angelic
It was fragrant, white, and tiny
In the garden of life, I’ve seen none like it
One day the beautiful brunette left
She was happy, smiling, not thinking of me
But I can’t forget, I still think of her
Crying with longing, I don’t know how long I’ll live like this
Maybe one day she’ll come back, regretful
For all the sins and the hurt she caused
I’ll welcome her with so much joy
I’ll smile happily for the first time
When night falls, my heart sighs
And I strum the strings of my guitar
I love the Paraguayan and the guavira flower
Both are the flowers of my heart
One day the beautiful brunette left
She was happy, smiling, not thinking of me
But I can’t forget, I still think of her
Crying with longing, I don’t know how long I’ll live like this
