The Black Chicken
Has the notes of an accordion as spurs
and carries in his fingers the flight of a hawk
he holds in his chest the biggest heart
and a good feeling always compels him to win.
They call him the chicken, the chicken that pecks and flies
in the good soul and when he goes to fight I rejoice
if people shout when he steps into the ring
gentlemen make way because here comes the black chicken.
Let him out, let that little chicken out
let him out, the one who pecks nicely (Repeat)
let him out, so they can see the best
the one who in feathers and beak has song and cunning
and in the spur a nightingale,
the one who watches over a little bird because he thinks his chirping
has turned into an accordion.
With his black feathers he accepts any fight
and is like my town, sly and welcoming,
he plays with the spur and they say he is the best
if the roosters tremble when the chicken flirts.
Peck black chicken, peck well, peck nicely,
may time not forget the times you have won
and when you peck on the fence let the cry be heard
that black chicken drives any rooster crazy.
