Mi Novia Y Mi Pueblo
Binomio de Oro de América
My Girlfriend and My Town
Born in the snowfall, where the sun dies
the riverbed that bathes my town
its waters can be seen flowing down
they come barefoot and don't suffer
because they go happily to my land.
I arrived happily like those waters from the mountains
to my homeland that I love so much
where I left my girlfriend.
But I noticed that nothing had changed in my town
everything I had left behind was still there
the same hill full of sadness
the same streets full of memories
the same old church tower
giving a welcome to the stranger.
Naturally, I asked myself
if my girlfriend's love, like my town
had not changed, I went out to look for her but didn't find her
I desperately needed her.
And a washerwoman coming from the river told me
that she had left her on the shore
and a dove flew as if showing the way (Repeat)
and in the laurel where she landed she had her nest
and I found my love,
my love nest (Repeat).
I found her by the river, very entertained
drawing love figures in the sand
each figure she drew was like a sorrow
that she removed from her fifteen-year-old heart.
The day was radiant, my love looked so beautiful
that a butterfly, upon seeing her beauty
stopped its flight and turned into a flower
and even the trees, by her presence
overcame their pride, bowing down
as if by magic before her beauty,
whirlpools formed in the waters
carressed her gently
and fascinated by so much beauty
it made me want to merge into the environment
at that moment, surprised, she looked at me
and her gaze reflected the purity of a great love
her eyes told me that she still loved me
not to leave her side anymore
with great joy then I understood
that my girlfriend's love,
like my town, had not changed.
And the dove flew,
towards an unknown destination (Repeat)
and maybe it was because she understood
that I wanted solitude with my love.
My love nest (Repeat).
