Painting the Town Red
You're feeling a bit down, thinking everything is dull?
Yeah, I know the feeling, of course, you mean well
But forget it for a second, let it disappear into the blue
Grab your own palette, 'cause now we're gonna put the colors on
We paint the town red and the sky white with starlight
The gray and sad get an extra splash of color
So we give the night's clothes a brushstroke and even more
And only when the sun says good morning and takes over, we say goodnight
The glasses you're wearing can color the things that happen
So you can't see the joys others see
But you can borrow mine for a couple of hours if you want
Take a look around, open your eyes, jump out and go for it
We paint the town red and the sky white with starlight
The gray and sad get an extra splash of color
So we give the night's clothes a brushstroke and even more
And only when the sun says good morning and takes over, we say goodnight
Are you still sitting inside, rolling the curtains down?
You have to find the joys, just hang in there and come along
(Just hang in there and come along)
We paint the town red and the sky white with starlight
The gray and sad get an extra splash of color
So we give the night's clothes a brushstroke and even more
And only when the sun says good morning and takes over (And takes)
Yeah, only when the sun says good morning and takes over
We say goodnight
