Ikaros

Icarus
When I look back on my childhood
I see horror images most clearly of all
Yes, the times they scared or hit me
Are the memories that stick hardest
Because as a child, love is taken for granted;
Everything else goes against one's nature
At the moment one steps out into life
One is just a given animal
Yet soon the adults stand there and point
Out the direction they think one should take
All the dreams they themselves have been denied
They want to fulfill through their children
If one is obedient, one is rewarded and praised
If one rebels, one loses everything
No one loves a child who doesn't succeed
No one loves a child who is strong
But who possesses the ability to know
What lies within a new individual?
And who can tell someone else what happiness looks like
Who can say what someone else wants to become?
Let your flowers take root where there is soil
Let your plants live where they thrive
Don't lock up your seedlings in a greenhouse
Let them escape an unnatural life
Let the one you love try their wings
One day your beloved will fly right
If you want to be respected by your image
You must show your image respect
