Premio de Consolación

Consolation Prize
What are celebrities made of
That they never fall from their pedestal?
Is it that they shine from Friday to Tuesday
And the rest of the week they're just more human?
Like me, who gets down in the middle of my room
Searching for coins under the mattress
And if I check my fortune in the tarot
They tell me to go pay for a subscription
I don’t want the consolation prize
I really appreciate your help
They say if it were easy, everyone would do it
But no one warns you that your wounds will open
Searching for your place in the world
No one tells you that sometimes you’re not even one in a million
That the Grammy's made of plastic and the Oscar's made of foam
That you only get to the Nobel with access to education
Where's the fairy tale
That sci-fi movies promise?
And in which episode does the protagonist
Sell their soul to get to Hollywood?
And is it true that to feel miserable
You now need to hire a manager
To manage the hours you spend crying
In exchange for a fee you can’t afford?
I don’t want the consolation prize
And I really appreciate your help
They say if it were easy, everyone would do it
But no one warns you that your wounds will open
Searching for your place in the world
No one tells you that sometimes you’re not even one in a million
That the Grammy's made of plastic and the Oscar's made of foam
That you only get to the Nobel with access to education
You get up every day living off the routine
And think about the life you’d have if you got the chance
You daydream about what you wanted but blame the years, the months, and the days
And look for excuses to go back to bed
But you don’t want the consolation prize
And I really appreciate your help
They say if it were easy, everyone would do it
But no one warns you that your wounds will open
Searching for your place in the world
No one tells you that sometimes you’re not even one in a million
That the Grammy's made of plastic and the Oscar's made of foam
That you only get to the Nobel with access to education
I don’t want the consolation prize.
