Ven A Ver
Byron Barranco
Come and See
Down the boulevard they look at each other as dawn begins
Youngsters still dreaming, old folks still able to run
Happy people who have traveled from tram to bus
On the route from the past to the present in Veracruz
Come and see the kid on the boardwalk
Pulling a coin from the depths
Enduring the sun and holding his breath
Come and see in the pirate the passion
That roars like the tide
Every time the shark scores a goal
To remedy the ills, a good drink doesn't hurt
Any night in the portals, any day in carnival
For the heat or for the suffocation, an ice cream vendor shouts
Nanche or coconut ice, come and get it
Come and see the beach baseball player on the sand
Who makes you thrill similarly when the eagle hits a home run
Come and see that in the Parish the sound
Of impatient spoons that blend coffee and tradition
Veracruz would like to give you a song
With music by Agustin Lara
And lyrics by the poet Diaz Mirn
Come and see...
Come and see...
Come to Veracruz
Come and see
