Soy Un Tango Asi
Cacho Castaña
I Am Such a Tango
Messenger... of emotions,
I bring a kiss on my faded lapels
from a girlfriend who is absent
because I didn't give her my life
and standing on the corners I stayed
I am a tango...
I come from the neighborhood of the dandy and the girl,
and from the drama of that pale neighbor
who perhaps will never have
the train arrive in her life.
Messenger...
of a Buenos Aires with cane and hat
of a cheeky and adventurous obelisk
that always waits for someone to hang
a lantern on it.
Inhabitant... silent...
stowaway from some book of poems
I walk arm in arm with alcohol and sorrow
and some bellows condemn me
because it knows more than I do.
I am a tango...
I sleep in the bed lent to me by poets
and sometimes I dream of a conductor
who accompanies me in solitude
and I don't want to wake up.
Messenger...
of a Buenos Aires with cane and hat
of a cheeky and adventurous obelisk
that always waits for someone to hang
a lantern on it.
