Hunting and Fishing
I built a shack by the edge of the pond
I chopped down a cedar tree and made my canoe
To go fishing, the dog rides up front
Having a spotted dog for hunting is just great
When the evening rolls in, I sail two hundred yards
I set the net and the traps, sipping my whiskey
Then I fish with a rod where the hook won’t get tangled
To scare off the mosquitoes, I smoke and blow some smoke
I keep the small fish in a basket made of reeds
When dawn breaks, I hide in the tall grass
I aim my rifle, waiting for the capybara
I skin it and take the fat, 'cause I know it’s worth a lot
I spend every Sunday in the shade of a tree
Sipping my good drink, waiting for the paturis
When they come down to the pond, I go down to have some fun
When night falls, I head back to the shack to sleep
