El Adiós de Mi Madre
Los Cadetes de Linares
My Mother's Goodbye
The mailman brought me this letter,
From my dear mother, which said,
My son, come back to my side,
Don't be so ungrateful, don't make me suffer,
With your absence you are killing me,
My eyes bleed from crying so much,
I live sick, lying in bed,
If you don't come back, you will kill me,
But the days went by,
The months passed, the years as well,
The mailman who brought this letter,
Whistled again, I heard my name,
A notice in a black envelope,
The mailman put in my hands,
It was my mother's last goodbye,
Who died waiting for me to come see her,
My friends from the village tell me,
That my dear mother ended up crying,
In a sad corner of a church,
Trembling from cold, she died of hunger,
Oh friends, how sad I feel,
That God punished me, I deserve to suffer,
I beg you, take care of your parents,
Don't be as ungrateful as I was
