I'm Alive Brasil: The Floresta da Tijuca

Caetano Veloso Caetano Veloso

I'm Alive Brazil: The Tijuca Forest

If we ask ourselves every day
How can we live more mindfully?
And what can we do better?
Better for the earth, for forests
For our life, for humanity
Laid the path toward possible
Given people ways to grow food, harvest good
All in harmony with nature
And to learn a decent living in the process
That’s what the rainforest alliance is doing

Without arms, without legs, without coins in a pot
Without a big mouth to say help
We're at your mercy
He arrived here, full of tools
Disagreements, false beliefs
In steel arrogance, concrete and power
Are you gonna live like this in a glass box?
Or in a soul auction by the pound?
Here lies Mother Nature
I don’t want to say
That if the window of the soul has a lock
Clean your eyes and everything calms down
Plural, fourth person, verb protect

I’m alive and living, very much alive
Feel the sound of music banging in my belly belly
And I know one day I must die
I’m alive, I’m alive

I want to learn from the little birds more subtle melodies
Make delicate poems like the fleur-de-lis
Thank you nature, that’s how you say it
The sun rises every day, no need to ask for an encore

I’m alive! I’m alive
Ohhhhhh oh, oh oh

The forest cries e-e-e-eeee
Out of breath
To make your fruits nests
Imagine how it will be

The sky cries, until it reaches the sea it takes a while

I’m alive and living, very much alive
Feel the sound of music banging in my belly belly
And I know one day I must die
I’m alive
Yes I know one day I must die
I’m alive
Run through your sap, run through your blood
Different time, identical time
Time runs in my wrinkles
And in your concentric circles

Petals of a love me not
Art, no more, no less
Never, always, part, one
Wise shaman said: Open the shaman
Who praises the beauty of nature holds tomorrow
I’m a fan of those who build without concrete
What remains is built by word, dialect
Not every poem is ink and paper
Know where it comes from, where it has
Every dawn

I am the mother and I have feelings
Listen to my lament, I want more love
I keep living and I keep in this scream
I say and repeat, I want more love

And I know one day I must die
I’m alive
And I know one day I must die
I’m alive
Yes I know one day I must die
I’m alive

The river laughs, the sky cries
And until it reaches the sea it takes a while
