Corrido de El Viejo

Ballad of The Old Man
Around 2 in the afternoon
When the sun becomes unbearable
During my work rounds
I had in front of me an elegant driver
At a red traffic light an old man approached
And asked him for money, get lost you filthy old man
Don't tempt me, dirty beggar car
The man raised his hand, pointed at the old man
With a firm finger I heard, I'm not playing
Go to the other side, do what I told you
Hunger and hope for a coin could be seen on his face
But he pushed him forcefully and he fell scared on the sidewalk
And anger overcame me, I turned on the blinkers and the handbrake
And even where that coward was
If you're so brave, get out of the car
That guy, in a fit of anger, got out of his car
And with that cynicism he said to me, what the hell do you want
What's your problem, what do you want with me
I told him politely
I want you to help that poor innocent man up
He replied, why do you care
Who do you think you are to command me
I said I'll do it my way
Because in death everyone is equal
If you don't help the old man up and apologize, I will kill you
With a big laugh, he said to my face
In no way will I degrade myself
You don't scare me either, do as you wish
But his expression changed when point-blank
I put a gun to his mouth and made him kneel
And I shoved the gun inside his mouth
In the middle of that street, I was sure I would kill him
As God is great, almost to pull the trigger
The old man shouted don't kill him, don't kill him
Mercy for the young man he shouted and begged here
I am the guilty one, I dirtied his car
It was my fault
That confused man remained silent
Upon hearing the old man, he broke down in tears
May God forgive me for what I did
Forgive me for being inhumane
Kind man, what a lesson you have given me
Thank you for what you have taught
And for the new life you have given me
