El Sueño Americano
Calibre 50
The American Dream
Four in the morning and the alarm goes off
I get out of bed, splash my face with cold water to wake up
Gotta go to work
I brew my coffee for the road and cross myself in front of God
Grab my lunch, I look at you at night and tell my love
And then I leave
With the hope that my kids won’t lack for anything
And that my old folks can hold on a little longer
So I can come back and tell them I made it
And more than a dream, we lived a nightmare
Of a raid and suddenly the immigration shows up
This is how it is, love is what makes you endure
Back in my hometown, my dad waters a tree I planted every day
I promised him that one day the band will play under it
And it’s Calibre 50
With the hope that my kids won’t lack for anything
And that my old folks can hold on a little longer
So I can come back and tell them I made it
And more than a dream, we lived a nightmare
Of a raid and suddenly the immigration shows up
This is how it is, love is what makes you endure
Back in my hometown, my dad waters a tree I planted every day
I promised him that one day the band will play under it
