A Minha Rua
Camané
My Street
My street changed a lot
When autumn arrived
The moon disappeared
All traffic stopped
Many doors are closed
No one enters through them anymore
No clothes hanging
No carnations in the windows
No sailors on the corner
In the morning, there's no market
I never saw the fishmonger again
Flirting with the soldier
The baker left
The teacher left
Now only the priest and the doctor pass by
The hurdy-gurdy man
Never passed by again
I can't see the Tagus anymore
A big building blocked the view
The station clock
Is running late
And the boy with the spinning top
Plays aimlessly
The bookstore closed
The tavern has a new owner
My street changed
When autumn arrived
Some say 'good riddance'
It's much quieter now
Hardly anyone is seen
And hardly anything is heard
I agree with them
May it serve them well
And I only wait for summer
To make the street my own
