Palmeira

They planted me in the desert
They forgot me, despised me
They didn't water my roots
They didn't prune my branches
They didn't care about me
When I passed by
They said I had no value
That in the desert I would be left behind.

And then came the storm
That wouldn't let me stand
Trying to uproot my roots,
Trying to take away my faith
The wind blew very strong
The storm was too strong
That's when they said I died
That I wouldn't return.

So I got up
I rose from the ground
And many who thought I had died
Saw me win in the dust
I am like the palm tree
I don't give up
They may even forget me
But the one who made me born
Made me a champion.
