El Alvearino
Cantares de La Cañadita
The Alvear Dancers
When the Alvear dancers
Dance the cat down in the south
They make rings with wine
That even the old folks
Say: Cheers!
Sometimes she wins
When the echo shines bright
But always with them
They end up together, so in love
For the Alvear dancers
I’d always pray to the Lord
So that the folks from Mendoza
Keep our tradition alive forever
Skirting the lagoon
They say the cat was danced there
Surely the nymphs
Were the locals sent from the sky
