Perfume de Carnaval
Canto 4
Carnival Perfume
I go alone with my luck, I will carry it in my memory
Under an old carob tree, a handkerchief cut through the air
Dancing an old zamba, I gave her my dreams
The sun burned in the afternoon, silhouettes that seemed
Yellowish ghosts, full of earth and life
And I surrendered to her eyes, feeling that she loved me
Oh carnival perfume, I will never forget you
Her skin carried the scent of flowers and wet earth
Beautiful memories that I always keep within my soul
Oh times where have they gone, where I lost my dreams
Who knows if she remembers a old February
And that dance in the field and my true love
I didn't want to say anything to her, I loved her silently that afternoon
And on her black braids, I left my heartfelt verses
I left, taking her eyes, on an Ash Wednesday
