El Día Que Me Vaya
Carin Leon
The Day I Leave
I know very well that I am not eternal
The day it's my turn, it's all over and that must be understood
Why so much pride? Why so much farce?
In the end, there's no other way, no matter what you have, you take nothing
But for now, today I am alive
If I'm not a saint, I'll indulge and give my body what it asks for
Why deny my body pleasures?
If I like wine, live music, and beautiful women
I have eaten the best in the world
The day I leave, I'll leave well satisfied
When they finally put me in the hole
The earth will finally taste something good
I know the one who gave me their kisses will cry for me
While the earth licks its fingers
Because that's my life and the day I leave
For many people, nothing will happen
Let's have a drink, today I'm comfortable
After all, I know very well that my body stays in this world
To arrive, we last only a few months
To die, tomorrow, because that's death
But for now, today I am alive
If I'm not a saint, I'll indulge and give my body what it asks for
Why deny my body pleasures?
If I like wine, live music, and beautiful women
I have eaten the best in the world
The day I leave, I'll leave well satisfied
When they finally put me in the hole
The earth will finally taste something good
I know the one who gave me their kisses will cry for me
While the earth licks its fingers
Because that's my life and the day I leave
For many people (and that's how it is, buddy)
Nothing will happen
