La Vecindad
Carin Leon
The Neighborhood
You have to push the little boat
While the wind swirls
Of those opportunities
There are not two in the same story
To be someone in life
You have to be a man of moments
Deaf to hear compliments
I take bad comments
If you shake hands with the barber
Your shoulder softens
They go first to the horse
To climb on its back
The taco is no longer salty
Now it's well reported
No matter the quantity
Or the pesos generated
A man without humility
Doesn't fit well anywhere
And like the neighborhood
It's not worth half a cent
They wanted to make their August
Maybe the fool bites
They left me bald
By leaving me without marbles
Even though I had good chichorro
The plumb bob was small
There are few who know
How the water runs to the river
The opossum only talks
Because God lent him a snout
I eat them with a totopo
If they bite the bandit
And the taco is no longer salty
Now it's well reported
No matter the quantity
Or the pesos generated
A man without humility
Doesn't fit well anywhere
And like the neighborhood
It's not worth half a cent
