The Blackberry Bush

In the Levante café,
between palms and joys,
the Blackberry Bush sang.
They nicknamed her
because they say she had
eyes like blackberries.
A dealer opened her first, and olé
and then she was with a marquis.
Who filled her with diamonds and olé
from head to toe.
People said she was icy,
that she was mocking men,
until one night with jealous rage,
they caught the Blackberry Bush crying.
What does the Blackberry Bush have that at all hours
she cries and cries in the corners.
She who always laughed and boasted
that she broke hearts.
She tested love and knew affection.
That brings her and takes her through the street of pain.
The flamencos from the colmao
watch her at odd hours,
because they have become obsessed
with knowing about the cursed love
that bewitched the Blackberry Bush.
When the voices sounded,
a song of agony
the Blackberry Bush cried.
But no one gave reasons
nor knew the intricacies
of that treacherous pain.
But one night in the Levante and olé
a woman went to look for her.
When she had her in front of her and olé
they said who knows what.
Of what they talked about, no one knew
but the Blackberry Bush said it crying,
in a little song that quickly spread
and now people are starting to talk about it.
What does the Blackberry Bush have that at all hours
she cries and cries in the corners.
She who always laughed and boasted
that she broke hearts.
She wears a wedding ring, they came to tell me.
But I had already kissed her and it was too late for me.
Let them publish my sin and the sorrow that devours me.
And let them all turn away
upon learning about the cursed love
that bewitched the Blackberry Bush.
