Necrológio Dos Desiludidos do Amor
Carlos Drummond de Andrade
Obituary of the Disillusioned in Love
The disillusioned in love
Are shooting themselves in the chest
From my room I hear the gunfire
The beloved ones twist in pleasure
Oh, what material for the newspapers
Disillusioned but photographed
They wrote explanatory letters
Took all the necessary steps
For the remorse of the beloved ones
Bang bang bang goodbye, nauseated
I go, you stay, but we will see each other
Whether in the clear sky or murky hell
The doctors are performing the autopsy
Of the disillusioned who killed themselves
What big hearts they had
Immense viscera, sentimental guts
And a stomach full of poetry
Now we go to the cemetery
To take the bodies of the disillusioned
Competently boxed
(First and second-class passions)
The disillusioned continue deluded
Without a heart, without guts, without love
Their only fortune, their golden teeth
Will not serve as financial ballast
And covered in dirt they will lose their shine
While the beloved ones will dance a samba
Bravo, violent, on their grave
