Al Mundo Le Falta Un Tornillo
Carlos Gardel
The World Is Missing a Screw
The whole world is in the dumps, sad and bitter without fun,
Neurotic and cut off, the tough guys are gone,
Even I, who used to be a delight, have lost four kilos.
Today money is on the prowl and the pot is so high
that you need a trampoline, there will be crisis, anger, and hunger
That whoever buys ten slices of cold cuts now eats even the string.
Today we live by force and sleep in a rush,
And even Christ has been shaved.
Today even the most loyal friend is taken to pawn,
No one invites to eat, everyone on the rails.
The world is missing a screw, let a mechanic come,
to see if he can fix it.
What's happening? Good grief, the shelf fell down
Or St. Peter opened the gate, creation is in chaos.
And out of sheer stubbornness, they even polish the mattress.
Today the thief is decent and by force has become a person,
He no longer has to steal.
And the honest one has turned into a thief because in his saving fever
he is eager to keep.
The world is missing a screw, let a mechanic come,
to see if he can fix it.
