El Olivo
Carlos Gardel
The Olive Tree
There, by the Riviera
An Italian guy lived happily
Working night and day
Alongside his partner
And from the stream's whisper
The crickets were happy
Lulled by whispers
Enveloped in their love
And the gossiping women say
Strolling by the river
The things vanished
His little boat
But, since they didn't return
And time passed
People said
The little boat sank
Because a goat-herder buddy
Was sharpening his knife for the Italian girl
Treating her well
With the 'I love you' story
And since the man was good
And she young and flirty
One night, the jerk
Ran off with the Italian guy
And the gossiping women say
Strolling by the river
The things vanished
His little boat
But, since they didn't return
And time passed
People said
The little boat sank
