Isla de Flores
Carlos Gardel
Island of Flowers
Island of Flowers, so narrow
My little street by the sea
In your shacks were born
The most generous of the suburb
And how many nights to my ears
Sounds of guitar playing arrived
And in the wounds of the tenement
They made me tough to dance tango
Street, of my first principles
You were where I began to encounter
Street, because of you I became a tango dancer
I got drunk with your hustle and bustle
And tango has been my vice
In my life of the suburb
And although I have suffered in this absence
The consequences of a whim
For you I lost my old lady
My 20 springs, I lost everything
And the memories still haven't erased
My cruel torment, my horrible pain
I forgive you, I don't blame
My little street, by the sea
Street, of my first principles
You were where I began to encounter
Street, because of you I became a tango dancer
I got drunk with your hustle and bustle
And tango has been my vice
In my life of the suburb
