La Milonga
Carlos Gardel
The Milonga
The orchestra plays, the weeping bellows
With their vibrations, the party is so beautiful
The young people who adorn the courtyard
Their laughter of love was flooding
And among the noises, the notes seem
Songs that arise from heartfelt loves
But there are moments when in jealous love
Eyes express intense fury
When a brave man insists on taking
The beautiful owner of one who knows how to love
And a clamor suddenly rises
Seeing two men fighting
With strength, and in the struggle they grapple
While the blade of the knife vibrates
Those who see the gestures of bravery
Of those two who fight with courage
And upon seeing such great confusion
A shadow of bitterness covers the heart
And in the milonga the sounds die
Of the bandoneons that no longer groan
And the courtyard becomes very sad and gloomy
As if it were bathed in weariness
It's because people suffer from sorrow
Seeing a brave man fall to the ground
And the girl who adored the brave man
Curses the thug who killed her man
And drowned in a cry of pain
She kisses the beloved face of the one who was her love
I don't know what wind of sadness
Took away the joy from the courtyard
When the Sun was dying in the distance
And the party lost
Its cheerful animation
I only know that the one who adored him
Sobbed in mourning
And while crying for her lost illusion
She demanded answers from the sky
For her affliction
