La Violetera
Carlos Gardel
The Flower Girl
The lovely flower girl
Selling her flowers
Responding to jokes
With spiritual grace
To the serious, the cheerful, the rich
And the poor
She leaves a bouquet
Pinned on the lapel
The concert tables
Noisy with joy
Approach to perfume
With beautiful merchandise
And in this crazy kingdom
Of wine and laughter
She glides serenely
Saying as she passes by
Gentlemen, my flowers
Lucky charms
And they will see it in their loves
If they stay with any
Of the ones I offer here
Gentlemen, my violets
Have bloomed in the gardens
Where poets wander
And adorable cherubs
They cut them for me
The lovely flower girl
Mixed in joy
Disguises her agony
With a lyrical cry
And one day she saw her soul
Fragrant like her flowers
And her loves
Paid with betrayal
She is left from the romance
The most precious inheritance
The light of her existence
A baby who died
For her and for her sweet
Offspring who has died
Suddenly in the concert
My voice proclaims like this
Gentlemen, moved
I scatter the little basket
And for her I ask
That they turn out their pockets
All those who have a heart
Gentlemen, is there anyone
Who doesn't buy a bouquet
Knowing that each one
Will give bread for a little one
And a mother protection
