Viejo Jardín
Carlos Gardel
Old Garden
Illusory garden of memories
Sad, poor page from yesterday
Sweet romance of a distant town
Born in a beautiful sunset
I still recall the dusty road
That led to a humble mansion
And I remember the rosebush growing
Amid breezes, lullabies, scents, and sun
What serene afternoons
What joyful springtime
The sun in the meadow
Adorned my steps
In your eyes, I read
The dream of happiness
And a thousand tender kisses
I drank from your lips
But winter came, and with it
Shadows and cold arrived at the house
Laughter died on your lips
And the old rosebush in the garden dried up
And one night you left me
With death that cruelly took you away
And by your side, your departure cried
For all the joy that time cut short
Illusory garden of memories
I still recall
What an afternoon
In your eyes
