Un Gigante Que Despierta
Carlos Mejia Godoy
A Giant Awakens
It carries
Through this land it passed
The flint and honey passed
The gold, the jade passed
But nothing stayed
Only the lasting
Residue of the language
Miskitos, Sumos, and Ramas
That along with the Creole remained
Where there were no cities
Nor ceremonial temples remained
Only remained
The yucca and the peach palm remained
Between blasphemies and prayers in English and Spanish
A country different from mine was born in my own heart
A giant awakens on the coast
A giant that nothing stops
A giant awakens on the coast
A giant that nothing stops
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
A giant awakens on the coast
A giant that nothing stops
A giant awakens on the coast
A giant that nothing stops
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
Multiracial, multilingual
Semi-aquatic
Green everywhere
The Atlantic Coast got into our veins
And this sound was born
Oh, oh, oh
Mayaya the feeling, mayaya, oa, oa, oh
Mayaya the feeling, mayaya, oa, oa, oh
Mayaya the feeling, mayaya, oa, oa, oh
Mayaya the feeling, mayaya, oh
A giant awakens on the coast
A giant that nothing stops
A giant awakens on the coast
A giant that nothing stops
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
Wing, wing, wing lalalala lalalala
