En Silencio Sin Ruido
Carlos Ramón Fernandez
In Silence Without Noise
You were coming back from church on a Sunday afternoon
We saw each other, walked, and covered some distance
Hand in hand in forbidden silence
Your cheeks rosy, my pulse wild
And as you left, we kissed in silence without noise
I know you love me, you know of my affection
Because I don't know which elf whispered it in your ear
And there were a thousand butterflies playing in your path
And there were a thousand white elves dancing around me
Later, I remember feeling dazed
Watching you leave in silence and without noise
Just like the breeze caresses the path
I wish to caress you in silence without noise
Not even the murmur that the whirlwind forms
When it kisses the thistles that seem asleep
Like the moon kisses the sleepy lake
I wish to caress you in silence without noise
Like the white foam that forms in the river
Runs to kiss the shore at the slightest neglect
Leaving a kiss that lingers in the sleeping sand
And goes in search of the hollow of a hidden secret
A secret that sometimes wishes to be a scream
To tell the world of your love and mine
What a shame it would be, it would be a mistake
It would break the charm of the forbidden
If everyone found out that you and I loved each other
Like the sun and the shadow in silence, without noise.
