Mi Sueño
Carlos Ramón Fernandez
My Dream
From a very young age, I had my dream like so many kids,
To strum the guitar, walk through the nights, be a singer by trade
And in my dark room, I dreamed of stages, believed in myself
I didn't long for much, just an almost deserved applause
That's how I grew up with my guitar, thinking the same,
Knocking on the doors of others who were growing full of selfishness
I returned to the warm applause of the hearths surrounded by wine,
And in the early mornings, I saw my guitar almost aimlessly.
After knocking on a thousand doors, one day one opened
And a long road was shown to me by that old man who had walked a lot
Nicknamed Lito, he reached out his hand, pulled me out of the pit where I had fallen
He spoke to me with the voice that comes from years of experience
He pointed out a path that in the end was the definitive one
To go straight, dodging the stones that men and destiny put in the way
And at the end of the trail, I found the stage I had asked for
And we climbed together, me and my guitar, I received an almost deserved applause
And from then on, I traveled through small cities, little-known places
I sang to the mother, grandmother, and the love of a child
In baggy pants and boots, with a lasso and a hat, truly like a farmer
If in the end, I only represent the Argentine cowboy
And here I am, gentlemen, standing before you, almost
Aged, fulfilling the dream.
