A suerte y verdad
Carlos Waiss
By Luck and Truth
I've lived life to the fullest
and I'm on the edge
where dreams fade away.
I've learned that luck
isn't for the strong
and that any hope
time always calms it down,
or else it just rolls away.
Today I know all that...
all that and so much more.
I carry in every wound
a hope that's already lost
that hammers away mercilessly.
The joys have left
and the sorrows, so mine,
don't matter to anyone else.
I'm loving and I'm suffering
and feeling firsthand
how sad it is just to keep living,
living by luck and truth.
I who saw many
great men, skilled men,
men who were real;
today I know the sentence
of a sorrow
and the strength that's needed
to drown out with a laugh
what others will say.
Today I know all that,
all that and so much more.
