Cartón junao

Carlos Waiss Carlos Waiss

Cardboard Tough Guy

Always happens with the cocky cigarette hanging from his lips
with a kinda shady look that gives away the neighborhood.
He talks tough, with his sleeves rolled up
and swaggers around with a gangster walk
while tapping the sidewalk with his military boot.
He talks about crickets, smoking and rough streets
on his face, he sports a scar that's now an old wound.
He claims that not long ago he got into a fight
and it was all because of a chick who, out of pure spite,
almost ruined the plans he had at the hangout.

He acts like a tough guy, talks like a priest,
his old tool had to be hidden away.
He asks about 'the man,' respects the lady of the night
and they say a big shot helped him out.
He claims he was a sidekick in shady deals
and in the long whispering of murky gossip,
for him there are no secrets, from pulling off a scam,
to getting caught in a heist or spinning another tale.

He looks like a low-ranking thug
his collar lifts him up, almost to his throat
when he meets the big boss, he drinks 'straight and quick'
he gets tipsy with two drinks, makes a move on the fan
and to act somewhat discreet, he drives the getaway car.
He greets with a 'what's up!' and if he nods, it's with a 'yeah!'
but I, who know his record well, I know
that he's nothing but a troublemaker with a backwards walk
and the other night, it was for being a fool that they caught him
when he was causing trouble at the door of a cafe.
