Nací de Un Rio
Catherine Vergnes
I Was Born from a River
If you could feel at least
A little bit of what I feel
If you could speak to the wind
And it tells you my melodies
You would understand why I spent
So many hours in front of the river
Promising to sing songs
That will never be forgotten
If you knew that my guitar
Conversed with the river
I stole my trill from its whispers
Among those verses that were wings
My artisan hands were sculpted
In its torrent
So that when the strings sound
You can hear my soul
I was born from a river that is almost mine
And I went from north to south
Wherever I go, I carry it with me
Maybe I am from Paysandú
If you could see my gaze
That crossed the horizon
Heard someone shout my name
One night from the other side
You would know that I would never
Take a step aside
Until I return to the river
Everything it has given me
I was born from a river that is almost mine
And I went from north to south
Wherever I go, I carry it with me
Maybe I am from Paysandú
