Te Lucis Ante Terminum (latim)
Músicas Católicas
Before The Light of Day (Latin)
Before the light of day,
Creator of all things, we ask,
That by your mercy,
You may be our guide and protector.
Let dreams fade away,
And the phantoms of the night:
Repress our enemy,
So our bodies may not be defiled.
Grant it, most loving Father,
And the Only Begotten Son,
With the Holy Spirit,
Reigning through all ages.
Amen.
On Easter, the last verse is replaced by:
Glory be to God the Father
And to the Son, who from death
Rose again and to the Holy Spirit,
For eternal ages.
Until the Ascension, when it changes to:
Glory be to you, Jesus,
Who victorious ascends to heaven,
With the Father and the nourishing Spirit
For eternal ages.
On Marian feasts it is replaced by:
Glory be to you, Jesus,
Who was born of the Virgin,
With the Father and the nurturing Spirit
For eternal ages.
