Sometimes I remember
A good buddy I had
Brave as the devil
Worse than a cockfight rooster
When my buddy pulled
His knife from the sheath
Even the police
Promised but didn't come

A resident told me
From the Gravataí River
That on the riverbank
No one fished there anymore
Because it was said
An anaconda snake appeared
And that snake made
All the fishermen run away

I told my buddy
He grabbed his gun
Invited us to go there
And I already regretted
To not make him angry
I was forced to go
To the riverbank
To see the anaconda snake

We arrived at the edge
I felt a shiver
But when I saw the snake
My buddy did too
The water made a wave
The snake disappeared in the wave
And just to be rude
It made four or five hisses

My buddy seeing the snake
Started to lose his clogs
Adjusted his body
And pulled out his knife
The snake came hissing
Climbing up the bank
And I also started climbing
On a white fig tree

From up there I was watching
How a man unfolds
Then I saw my buddy
Had more than enough skill
He managed
Performed a maneuver
Instead of the snake eating him
He ate the snake

After eating the snake
My buddy turned pale
Looked at me and said
Why did you run?
Oh, oh my buddy!
You know very well who I am
I was scared
Of the snake you ate!
