Nos Queremos Fuertes
Cecilia Griffa
We Want to Be Strong
It hurts in my body
Being so many less already
The anger bursts out of me
The rage suffocates me inside
I don't want to stay silent
Even though the silence insists
I am convenient to the patriarchy, fearful and sad
Enough of killing us, we are not objects
They are not owners of our bodies
They think we are inferior, I feel their contempt
They think they can put a price on us
They call us sluts, witches, crazy
They rape us and blame us
They want to shut us up, they want to shut our mouths
It hurts that there is one every twenty hours
It hurts because that one is all of us
It hurts that you think you are manly and powerful
And that you confuse love with harassment
It hurts but it strengthens me more
You wanting to silence me makes me scream
It seems like we are emerging from below
An ancestral force
Multiplies and grows
We must find each other, recognize each other
We want to be alive
We want to be strong
