Poema Del Numero Cero
Cesar Brandon
Poem of Number Zero
One didn't want to count on anyone
And one didn't understand why it was odd if there was someone before it
One didn't want to count on anyone
And one felt that after it was infinity
And eternity scared one, so one
Terrified, noticed zero
And when one saw zero, thought zero was the most beautiful number it had seen
And that, even though it came before it, it was whole
One thought it had found true love in zero
That in zero it had found its match
So it decided to be honest with zero and tell it that even though it was a zero on the left
It would be the zero that would give value and meaning to its life
Being the first was no longer for it, so it had to give a warm welcome
Together they were pure joy and completed each other
One had zero tolerance for alcohol, but with zero
They could have a zero beer for their anniversary
Even if they had to invent a zero date on the calendar
Zero was closed and had trouble representing texts but
Together with one, they made the perfect binary code
They were the digits of the neighborhood and processed love daily
But one doesn't know what it has until it loses it, so one lost zero
And by the time one realized, zero was already counting hand in hand with minus one
Who, despite being negative, treated it like a queen
Zero liked that minus one was original
Having a gap in minus one, a dash they could play with
Zero liked that minus one wasn't just one more, that minus one wasn't ordinal
That it was precisely competitive and that when they played one, minus one wouldn't let it win
Zero felt that unlike one, minus one did treat it like a real number
And minus one didn't make excuses, nor did it try to give value to zero by putting commas between them
Minus one had no complexes, and when they made love
Minus one loved being below zero
And one, once again, was left alone, separated as a unit
Without zero, its life consumed like a candle
Without zero, time took its toll on it
And one started counting but without zero, forgot about zero's kisses
About sex with zero, about zero's jealousy
And one started counting, but without zero
One forgot about zero and said goodbye
One forgot about zero and maybe even about love
And started counting up to what scared it the most: Up to infinity
Or maybe just up to two
