Caboclo na Cidade
César Menotti & Fabiano
Caboclo in the City
Sir, I used to be a farmer in the Triângulo Mineiro where I had my little ranch
I had a good life with Isabel, my wife, and four chubby kids
I had two oxen for plowing, many pigs in the pigsty, and a good saddled horse
A shotgun, fourteen dairy cows, and a rice field in the marsh
In the city, I only went every fifteen or twenty days to sell cheese at the market
And the rest of the time, I was relaxed, every day was a holiday, I fished the whole week
Many people tell me that true happiness doesn't exist
So, it happened, I decided to sell the farm and come live in the city
It's been over twelve years since I've been living here, and I regret it
Everything is different here, I don't get along with these people, I'm very upset
I don't even earn enough to eat, I don't know what to do, I'm almost going crazy
It's all luxury and vanity, I even think the city is not a place for a countryman
My daughter Sebastiana, who was always so nice, I feel sorry for her
She dated a long-haired guy who claimed to have everything, but I found out he had nothing
He left for other places, no one knows where he is, and the daughter is abandoned
It hurts my heart to see her situation, neither single nor married
Even my old lady is changing, you should see how she goes out
She goes to the beach, wears mini-skirts, and plucks her eyebrows
She doesn't even bother with me, she wants to be fashionable, with all her nails painted red
After she matured, she started wearing makeup, oh my, how ugly
Going back to Minas Gerais, I know it's not possible now, my money is gone
I miss the hut, I dream of my farm in the Triângulo Mineiro
I don't even know how it happened, when I sold the farm to come live in the city
Sir, on that day, I sold my family and my happiness!
