Fina Estampa
Chabuca Granda
Fine Print
A cheerful little path with moonlight or sunlight
Stretched like a ribbon with its sides of crimson
Crimson of geraniums and blushing smiles
Crimson of carnations and blooming cheeks
Perfumed with magnolia sprinkled with morning dew
The little path smiles when your skin caresses it
And the mockingbird laughs and the window stirs
When your fine print strolls along that path
Fine print, gentleman
Gentleman of fine print
A star that would smile beneath a hat
Would not smile more beautifully
Nor shine more brightly, gentleman
And in your walk, walk, the sidewalk shines as you walk, walk
It leads you to the doorways and enchanted courtyards
It leads you to the small squares and to the dreamed loves
Little path that lulls with embroidered taffeta
Heel of silk shoe and starched petticoats
It's a cheerful little path with moonlight or sunlight
That I will travel singing in case I can reach you
Fine print gentleman, who could keep you
Fine print, gentleman
Gentleman of fine print
A star that would smile beneath a hat
Would not smile more beautifully
Nor shine more brightly, gentleman
And in your walk, walk, the sidewalk shines as you walk, walk
