Monte Caveira
Chagas Sobrinho
Skull Mountain
The day begins, on Friday morning
Jesus carries the cross, towards Skull Mountain
The crowd, curiously followed
Many people mocked, few women cried
When they arrived, at the appointed place
They crucified Jesus, and a thief on each side
Nailed to the cross, speaks the Prince of Peace
Father forgive the crowd, they do not know what they do
Like a lamb, he did not open his mouth
Even with a hoarse voice, he interceded for man
And there on the cross, my Jesus was hung
To take away my sins
Oh how Jesus suffered!
Everyone mocked, the soldiers jeered
They offered vinegar, to see if Jesus would drink
They mistreated him, with words and blows
Yet Jesus loved, and interceded for man
One of the thieves, blasphemed in anger
But the thief on the right, was already repentant
He said: Jesus, remember me, I need
Jesus said: Today you will be in paradise
At the sixth hour, the whole Earth trembled
At this hour the Sun did not give its radiant light
The temple veil, from top to bottom tore
The whole Earth showed its respect for Jesus
They took Jesus' body and buried it
Guards were placed there, to watch over the Lord
When they thought, to have a defeated Christ
On Sunday they found out that Jesus had risen
