El Bardo

The Bard
A poor bard fell in love
With a girl from high society
His life was that of a poor clown
Who laughed heartily to hide his tears
He followed her
The poor bard kept following
Counting the orchids
Where his love went
And the girl who knew nothing
That the bard adored her
Married someone else.
And they say
That one moonlit night
Under a blanket of stars
The troubadour died
And they say
Those who knew him
That night the complaints of a love were heard
The girl, when she learned the story
The truth of the story
Of the poor troubadour
She said
Dreaming in her madness
Today bitterness kills me
Because I loved him too
What a pity he didn't tell me
If only I had known
Today I would be all his
