The Grape
This afternoon I’ll be singing
On a little horse, I’m riding
Dad’s saddled up the guanaco
A post made of ñandubai
Close to midnight
A good-natured tune
When I passed by your house
I was singing a little grape song
The echoes of the guajira
Could be heard by the lagoon
Sitting high on my horse
I was carrying the moon
When I got to Salavina
We danced the chacarera
And we sang the castilla
Mixed in with "the grape"
In the distance, I can see
My little house in the jumiales
A white little hut
Crossing through the quebrachales
Going down a little path
Sacha goat, I’m feeling fine
A little bell hanging
Chacareras we’ll dance
And on my horse, I’m riding
Galloping through the land
White well, blonde path
Colonia Dora, Mailín
When I got to Salavina
We danced the chacarera
And we sang the castilla
Mixed in with "the grape"
