Entre Nous
Charles Aznavour
Between Us
Between two trains, between two doors
Between two planes that take me away
Between New York and Singapore
My thoughts take a detour
To bring me back to the traces
Of a past I loved so much
Of a happiness that seemed, however
From each day, from each moment
And I feel a kind of anxiety
In my throat that tightens
Because everything is upside down
Between us
Between two bars, between two drinks
Between two slightly vulgar girls
Between drunkenness and the blues
My thoughts come back sooner or later
To that past that was ours
Whose voice I still hear
To everything that was you and me
Before our joys died
Now your heart is completely different
It tries to forget everything
Suddenly making a void
Between us
Between two sheets, between two dreams
Between two rising smokes
Between night, the early morning
My thoughts fly towards love
And closing my eyes I imagine
That the past still lives
I reconstruct the setting
And take your mouth and take your body
And on the humble theater in ruins
Love replays
All the slightly crazy things
Between us
