I Lived
When I take that lonely ride
A one-way trip, no return
That every man on this earth
Takes one day
To go see God the Father
And tell Him of his virtues
I’ll say it straight up
I lived
I lived the life of a being
Made of flesh and blood
I lived
Every second of my time
I lived to know everything
Of what was offered to me
Without a care for heaven or hell
Thinking I had nothing better to do
No more or less optimistic
Than the rest of mankind
I led the life of an artist
Not a saint
Once the stage dims
And the show goes quiet
Let’s admit, selfishly
I lived
I lived the life of a being
Who only aspired to happiness
I lived
Until it tore my heart apart
I lived, my God, maybe
Without thinking of my salvation
But on earth, I was told that you
Welcomed back the lost sheep
If my credentials
Seemed thin and ineffective
If to touch your mercy
I had to
Justify my existence
In detail, piece by piece
I’d say in my defense
I lived
I lived with fire in my soul
For the girls with warm hearts
I lived
Desire etched in my skin
I lived in the name of women
For love and its cravings
Thinking at times I touched paradise
Burning my days and consuming my nights
I lived
My life
